Banana Sushi Is The Coolest After-School Snack You’ve Never Had
It’s time to swap raw fish for raw fruit.
When you’re swamped with math homework, soccer practice and social obligations, it’s not uncommon to find your hand in a bag of Cheetos. Well, it’s about time you became familiar with banana sushi, Pinterest’s favorite new snack trend (it’s bound to become yours, too!).
While you can prepare your rolls using any ingredients your hungry heart desires (though we’d recommend avoiding fish all together), we provided a few Dose office favorites to get you started.
The Monkey Roll is the ‘original’ banana sushi recipe. All you need to do is spread some peanut butter on a tortilla and roll a banana inside. We recommend breaking the banana where it curves the most for a tighter roll.
Admittedly, this is a fairly sweet snack (or a healthier dessert?). Spread melted chocolate on top of the banana, then finish it off with toppings like rainbow sprinkles, peanuts, coconut or pistachios.
Coconut Dream Roll
This classic chocolate-coconut combo simply involves covering a banana in chocolate and rolling it in shredded coconut.
The Rainbow Roll is my personal favorite, taste-wise. Cover a banana in blueberry Greek yogurt, roll it in Fruity Pebbles cereal and top with halved blackberries (aka caviar).
Crispy Nutella Roll
The Crispy Nutella Roll is reminiscent of a Crunch bar with an added fruity twist. Just cover a banana in Nutella and roll in Rice Krispies cereal.
Strawberry Sashimi Roll
Aesthetically, the Strawberry Sashimi roll is my favorite. First, spread a thin layer of Greek yogurt on the top of the banana and then finish it off with thin strips of (warmed) strawberry fruit leather.
Trail Mix Roll
We all know the best part of the trail mix is the chocolate and the pretzels, so ditch the rest and top your peanut butter-ed banana with these classic favorites.
