Reading is the secret to gaining endless amounts of new knowledge. It is the portal to another wonderful world.
But that's not all that can be gained from reading (as if that's not awesome enough!). There are tons of other things that can be vastly improved upon when you up your literary intake.

In 2010, 10% more book readers reported to Canada's National Reading Campaign that they were in excellent health than the non-book readers participating in the survey.
Research from York University has found a positive correlation between reading (in this case, fiction specifically) and feeling empathy.

Dr. David Lewis of Sussex University found that reading was one of the most effective forms of stress release. He compared it to several other popular forms, and it outshone them by astronomical numbers.
To be clear, it is statistically more effective for lowering stress than listening to music.
Also more effective than drinking coffee.
