If Your Book Has a Fore-Edge Painting You're Holding Onto Something Really Special

Fore-Edge painting is an awesome technique where artists would paint images on the sides of pages that would only be visible when you hold the pages together. The technique dates back until the 1650s.

Colleen Theisen, with the outreach and instruction department at the Special Collections & University Archives at the University of Iowa, showed off some of the books the collection has that features this incredible intricate art work.
