Who said folding tables are only for TV dinners? Avant-garde designer Robert van Embricqs is reinventing the way we see collapsible furniture—or all furniture for that matter. His new “rising furniture” line includes tables, chairs, stools, and bowls that begin as a single slab of two-dimensional wood and transform into a fully formed work of usable art, proving that utilitarian and storable can also be stylish. So move over metal folding chairs—PTA and town hall meetings are about to get a serious upgrade.
