At Dose, we test just about anything—from abstract concepts to nuanced messages. So when our coworker Rashed said, “there’s a million things I could say on my dating profile, where do I even start?” we all channeled our inner Cupids and shouted, “test it!”
We took all of Rashed’s (and of course his mom’s) hypotheses about his core value propositions and designed a comprehensive test.
| Adventurous | Self-Care | Career-Driven | Personality | Pop Culture |
| New Experiences | Good Listener | Leader | Caring | Social Media |
| Foodie | Well-Dressed | Avid Reader | Social | TV |
| Loves to Travel | Active Lifestyle | Loves Start-Ups | Sarcastic Humor | Movies |

We targeted two groups: ‘Rashed’s Pick’ and ‘Mom’s Pick’ and reached over 250k eligible bachelorettes in less than a week.
To pinpoint exactly what’s most attractive, we created hundreds of message, photo and pick-up line combinations and tested them in real-life social feeds.

Our proprietary formula scored Rashed’s value props using a range of behavioral metrics— basically everything except the butterfly-to-stomach ratio.
Without women knowing it
was a test, we heard what they
actually want in a partner.
You could say they were...an
open book.
Not checking his phone all the time means he is a nice guy!
I get all hot n bothered when a guy lists his favorite books on his profile 😍
A man who reads is sexy AF 🔥
Leadership qualities, like having a ‘5-year plan,’ highly resonate. And she definitely appreciates a guy who can rock a suit, which engages Millennial women at rates 25% above their expected behavior.
Across the test, any message that leads with her, not him, scores up to 89% higher. Simply ‘asking her about her day’ gets through-the-roof engagement, revealing a quick win for any man on the market.
Suggesting to “go somewhere we’ve never been before” gets the most social shares of any message, which is basically the equivalent of getting the thumbs-up from her friends.
A love of working at start-ups is much less compelling. This especially alienates ‘Mom’s Pick,’ who may think start-up life is just too unpredictable.
Say, “hasta la vista, baby!” to using your favorite movie quote as a one-liner. Movie talk scores 34% lower than talking nerdy about books.
Simply put, she is not impressed by anyone holding a dead fish. Puppy photos also fail to break through—women may find these inauthentic, no matter how cute the wittle guy is.
Early results show a significant increase in Rashed’s swipe-to-date conversion rate, thanks to his over-involved coworkers. And a very special thanks to Rashed, who’s been an incredibly good sport through all of this.
